The Don Killuminati was the last album Tupac worked to release when he was alive. On Sept 7, 1996 Tupac was in Las Vegas and after watching a Mike Tyson fight, was on his way to a party with Suge Knight. They stopped at a red light and an unknown person pulled up next to them and fired at Tupac. Tupac was then rushed to the hospital where he stayed for Seven Days.

When Tupac was pronounced dead seven days later on September 13, it came as a shock to his family, friend, fans, and supposed enemy Biggie Smalls. The whole HipHop scene paused for a minute to reflect on how something so seemingly small that was the East Coast-West Coast war seemed to have taken the life of such a figure. Although his murder was never officially solved, a lot of private investigators have come up with their own theories as to what happened, including placing the blame on Biggie Smalls, Puff Daddy (P.Diddy) and even blaming Suge Knight, the person who was in the driver seat the night Tupac was shot.
